A 2-year-old girl abducted from her front yard Wednesday night is at home. Police said her kidnapper is a twice convicted child molester.
Investigators believe 56-year-old Marcus Berry took the girl from her North Tulsa home around 8:45pm Wednesday. He was behind bars at the Tulsa County Jail early Thursday.
Some Tulsa Police officers are happy their instincts paid. They found the missing toddler before even knowing she was missing. Officers who were patrolling the area along Apache near 33rd West Avenue came across a truck in a field. It was parked about 60-feet off the main road.
When officers went to check out what they thought may have been an abandoned or stolen truck, they discovered they were about to save a little girl in a dangerous situation. "They drove up on the truck, found a black male in the drivers seat, and a 2-year-old Hispanic female sitting right up next to him in the cab of the truck. Not until dealing with them for about 5 minutes did a call go out of a missing juvenile," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Brandon Wykoff.
The missing toddler's description of a pink shirt and pink dress were a perfect match. The pair was about 4 miles from the girl's home.
Berry is being held on $150,000 bond on one count of lewd molestation of a minor and one count of kidnapping.
