R.I.P one-year-old Chavira Brown

The child may have been still alive when she was stuffed into trash bag and placed in an attic. An autopsy reveals more about how one-year-old Chavira Brown died. Her father, Jonell Lloyd is on trial for her murder.

"Will you please stop looking at me?"

Twice in the middle of questioning, Tameika Loudermilk told Jonell Lloyd, her ex-boyfriend to look away as she testified against him.

"It seemed like he was spanking Chavira all day," said Loudermilk.

"And you did nothing?," defense attorney Alice Osburn asked.

"No," Loudermilk answered.

The defense tried to use Loudermilk's inaction the day Chavira Brown died to question her credibility. But prosecutors say they have physical evidence to back up her story, starting with the place the child's body was found, the attic. Loudermilk suggested they look there, because she testified she saw Lloyd take the child into a back room, where there was access to the attic. A crime scene investigator found the Chavira's body inside trash bags.

'When we dug through enough layers of bags, we found the child," said Natalie Rowe, CSI.

A forensic pathologist testified the child's injuries were consistent with Loudermilk's account that Lloyd beat and choked Chavira, because he was upset that she wet her diaper.

"There is no inconsistency in that account with the findings I had and the conclusions that I made," said Dr. Ronald Distefano.

He also testified that Chavira's injuries showed that significant time passed between the time they occurred and her death. The autopsy showed Chavira suffered brain swelling and bruising to her back, legs and head. She died as a result of asphyxiation.

Another thing prosecutors say links Jonell Lloyd to the crime scene, his blue jeans. They were covered in insulation, the same kind as from the attic. Tameika Loudermilk testified Jonell Lloyd told her to get rid of those jeans.
